There are plenty of studies that show just how negatively your job is impacting your mental and physical health.

Not everyone has a job or career that is causing them health problems. However, if you have a typical office job, and many people do, you probably don’t see enough of mother nature.

The windowless walls, florescent lighting, constant sitting and recirculated air that you experience every day are all teaming up to impact your body, mind and spirit in a negative manner.

Without even knowing it, by simply going to work, you may be slowly and systematically ruining your overall health.

There is a simple and powerful solution. Spend more time outdoors. Most world health organizations recommend 10 to 15 minutes of exposure to sunlight every day. The sun has to hit your skin, so grab a short sleeve shirt, throw on a pair of shorts, and spend some time with mother nature.

In that short period of time the sun’s rays start a process which creates all the vitamin D that your body needs to function properly for a 24 hour period. Also, studies show that your brain releases hormones which create pleasurable experiences every time you walk in a grassy field, park or meadow for 10 or 15 minutes.

The bottom line?

You just downright feel better when you spend time in the great outdoors. This gives you a better outlook on the world around you, and on yourself, and that improved state of mental health is definitely something to be thankful for.
