The AB blood type only showed up about a thousand years ago (roughly 25 to 30 generations). That may as well have been yesterday as far as the human time-line of history is concerned.

Blood type O, as well as types A and B, appeared because of environmental or evolutionary concerns or influences up until that point.

Those 3 blood types make up 97% or 98% of all humans currently alive. Those human beings changed in order to survive, and so did their blood types, their digestive systems and their genetic makeup.

People with type AB blood are the first ever to see a significant change in blood antigens that is neither environmentally nor evolutionary based. This creation is simply a co-mingling of different elements from blood types A and B. If you have type AB blood, you are a hybrid of sorts. As far as exercise and dealing with stress goes, this means that you tend to feel better and stay healthy when you incorporate practices from both A and B blood types.

Type AB – The Progressive

It has been a long and transformational path from type O, the original human blood type, to the progressive type AB. This human hybrid can eat foods from both the A and B diet plans, and loses weight effectively by cutting back on red meat and adding dairy. This is the only blood type that is so uniquely constructed.

Understand that your 1 in a million construction (only 2% to 3% of all humans are type AB) means exercise and stress need to be approached differently than the other blood types. When stress hits or you experience negative emotions, you tend to internalize those feelings.

You need to let them out. Bottling up things that make you feel bad and perpetuates stress and anxiety, which can lead to hormonal changes that deliver negative health consequences. As far as exercise goes, you will tend to get stiff, achy muscles and joints after high intensity cardiovascular exercise. Steer clear from high intensity training sessions.

Your body, and your mind, respond much better to gentler exercises like golf, walking, hiking, swimming or dancing. Yoga, tai chi and meditation can help keep your joints and muscles limber, and also appeal to your mental makeup for mental benefits and stress relief. Because you are the first hybrid blood type in human history, you may find that you need to experiment frequently before you find an approach to physical fitness that works for you.
