It’s been noted that when people who live with rosacea learn about their condition, they cope with it and deal with the effects much more effectively than those who actively avoid information.
Understanding that there are different types and lengths of time that affect the outcome of your appearance can help you to safeguard yourself and prevent the possibility of having to have expensive surgeries to correct damaged tissues.
Facial Redness
Early on, the first symptoms of rosacea are usually a type of flushing, or blushing that takes places on the face around the nose and on the cheeks. At the earliest stage, the redness will subside, and go back to normal until a triggering event takes place.
As it progresses, the flushing begins to stay a little longer and may stay permanently. Small blood vessels might burst leaving swollen skin. Sometimes this cause the skin to become a sort of large scar, growing in thickness or even becoming a sort of scaled flesh.
Bumps and Pimples
Once the facial redness has occurred, it could progress to a next stage very quickly if the rosacea goes untreated. Papules or pustules can form. Normally, they don’t hurt, so if they do that could mean that it has become infected.
When this reaches more serious forms it can manifest in large, thick, swollen patches called plaques. These plaques will be red and irritated, and even have pimples or pustules on them.
Enlargement of the Nose
The nose can be one of the most vulnerable to this type of rosacea. If rosacea continues to further go untreated, in increases the chance of suffering some of the most extreme effects That rosacea has to offer.
As blood vessels swell, and skin thickens in the face, the nose can begin to expand causing a condition called rhinophyma. The expanding tissue causes the nose to become malformed.
Eye Irritation
Another somewhat annoying and upsetting type of rosacea affects the eyes. This means that the eyes can become very agitated and appear bloodshot on a constant basis.
Most people would consider it upsetting to see their eyes have such a reaction simply from a visual standpoint, but rosacea also causes painful irritation in the eyes, and special medical treatment is need if it progresses to the more serious levels of irritation.
