When you’re trying to avoid causing a rosacea flare up, you’ll want to be incredibly selective when it’s time for you to purchase skin care products.
If you’re already familiar with some of the negative effects of rosacea, you might also be aware that anything you chose that can stimulate the skin too much will trigger a reaction in the surface of your
skin.
Learning about what you can use will help you to avoid causing the rosacea to progress, so this is a short guide on choosing the right skin products.
Avoid Skin-Drying Products
Products that dry out your skin are never a good idea when you have rosacea. Dry skin can become sensitive and far more vulnerable to inflammation.
It would be advisable to get a good moisturizer, or use something that can help to keep moisture in your skin while still letting it breathe.
You do however want to make sure that the following ingredients aren’t in any of the products that you buy, because these are the type that can seriously dehydrate your skin. It will take a small amount of extra effort, but it will be worth it to avoid making your rosacea worse.
- Menthol
- Propylene glycol
- Alcohol
- Witch hazel
- Eucalyptus oil
- Fragrances
- Camphor
- Peppermint
Less Ingredients
A large number of people have an allergic reaction to the chemicals that are used to fragrance perfumes and other bodily cleansing products. If you want to be sure that you can avoid coming in contact with a lot of the irritants, it could be worth it to simply purchase products that are fragrance and color free.
As always, be sure that you do a small spot test to be sure that you won’t end up having an allergic reaction to the product after all of that searching. If you slather an entire container of untested product on your body, you could be in for a sad surprise, so you should be following the proper steps for it to be effective.
Stay Moisturized
This is very important. Staying moisturized keeps your blood vessels elastic and healthier. If they dry out they won’t flex as they should and leave you vulnerable to blood vessel bursts. This can cause a lot of scarring under the skin, and make the skin grow thicker.
Keeping your skin moisturized is recommended, but be sure to choose something that doesn’t contain alcohol.
