One of the most popular trends in the diet world is to follow a detox diet. You may think that you don’t need a detox diet if you’re not a heavy drinker or haven’t been around a lot of pollution. But almost everyone has some toxins in the body that need to be removed.
Toxins come from many different sources. You can take in toxins if you eat foods that have been treated with pesticides or herbicides. Unless you eat organic produce, you’ll likely be exposed to this.
Eating foods that contain refined sugars, refined oils, and white flour is also toxic to the body. Artificial colors, flavorings, and preservatives are toxic to the body. In addition, if you smoke, drink a lot of alcohol, or live in an industrial area you’re getting other types of toxins.
There are even heavy metals in some water supplies as well as plastics and paint products that you might be exposed to daily. All in all, we live in a very toxic time when you might have several levels of exposure.
What’s the big deal about all these toxins? Well, when the body takes in a toxin it has to work to get rid of it. Your liver does a pretty good job under normal circumstances and toxins are released by the body through digestion.
But when you become overloaded, the liver can’t filter out all of these toxins in a way that they leave the body. Instead, they are dissolved into fat cells where they’re contained so that they can’t harm the body.
What that means for you, though, is that your body packs on fat in order to protect it from these toxins. In additions, toxins cause your body to become inflamed. This leads to faster aging and diseases such as cancer, heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, and chronic fatigue syndrome.
When you have toxins built up in the body you can also feel sluggish, have difficulty focusing, and even feel fatigued. If you feel that you just don’t have the energy or good health that you want, beginning a detox diet could be the answer.
The good news is that when you change your diet you can help the toxins get released from your body and you can lose weight, have restored energy, reverse disease, and even reverse some of the signs of aging that are plaguing you.
And it’s not as difficult as you might think to begin changing the way you eat in a way that allows your body to become free from toxins.
